What is the Apprentices in Canada panel?

The Apprentices in Canada panel was launched by the Canadian Apprenticeship Forum. This panel is a platform for apprentices and journeypersons to share their opinions on building a career in the skilled trades. Panelists are invited to participate in a survey a few times per year to provide feedback on issues such as career prospects and barriers to obtaining certification.

Joining the panel is free and you can opt out at any time. Each time you complete a survey, you will be entered into a draw to win prizes of up to $1,000. A summary of the results from each survey will be available through www.caf-fca.org.

What makes Apprentices in Canada unique?

Apprentices in Canada is the first nation-wide panel of engaged apprentices and journeypersons. Our panelists provide feedback on their work experiences, which will be used to understand what supports and resources apprentices and journeypersons need to be successful in their trade.

Panelists are recruited on an ongoing basis so that we are hearing from apprentices and journeypersons nation-wide. Panelists are also encouraged to let other people working in the skilled trades know about the panel (e.g., co-workers, family and friends). This helps ensure that the panel consists of people at different stages in their career and working in different trades.

About the Canadian Apprenticeship Forum

The Canadian Apprenticeship Forum is a national, not-for-profit organization working with stakeholders in all regions of Canada. We influence pan-Canadian apprenticeship strategies through research, discussion and collaboration – sharing insights across trades, across sectors and across the country – to promote apprenticeship as an effective model for training and education. Our Board of Directors is comprised of representatives of business, labour, the jurisdictional apprenticeship authorities, education and equity-seeking groups. Through our work, the Forum has shed light on a number of key issues affecting apprenticeship, such as the perceived barriers to accessing and completing apprenticeship and the business case for apprenticeship training. For more information, visit the Forum's website at www.caf-fca.org.
